Evaluate, Refine and Choose the Best Solution
// 4. OPERATION DESIGN
Goal: To evaluate, select and refine the best idea(s) based on our criteria.
Now that you have come up with a selection of ideas, it is time to evaluate them and choose those to refine.
Before you select an idea to develop and prototype, you need to be clear on the criterion for solving the problem. Return to your work from Operation Define and Operation Identify to help you identify the criterion you need to meet.
At this stage, you should have lots of different ideas from your brainstorming. Start by grouping these into categories based on characteristics they might share. Then, work as a team to shortlist the most promising ideas. Think about which are the most exciting, realistic, time efficient and aligned with the brief.
Remember that this scenario has several components. You may need to combine more than one idea to meet the requirements and solve the problem in its entirety.
Complete the Operation Design Student Worksheet to evaluate and refine your shortlisted ideas and choose which to take to the next stage.
